Hey, all. Although I know requesting art is a bit of a grey area now, I was wondering if we are allowed to ask for an artist who takes commissions? i.e. for money, SW collectibles, etc.
As it stands right now, there isn't a list of commission artists on-site. I think it would be really useful to compile such a list in the future.
As far as I am aware, you can certainly ask the artist in question about doing commission work.
As for a list...doubtful since I imagine they don't want any confusion that this site is for free requested artwork.
A lot of artist, myself included, will sometimes write on their profiles whether they do private requests or not. You could try looking that way?
I order to avoid copyright issues, it's always been necessary for private commissions, particularly those involving money, to happen off-site. Feel free to contact artists privately (by e-mail, smoke signals, or semafores) in order to make such arrangements.
Ah, I guess you are right, Evan. It just feels really odd to me for a skilled artist to draw a picture up for free, without asking for anything in return...you don't see such tokens of goodwill often. It's very refreshing. :)
Anyways, thanks all for your replies. I'll take Drig's advice and see if I can find someone willing to draw up some characters for me.
I think you'd be best off picking an artist whose style you like, and sending a private message. If they say no, pick another. Eventually someone will pick it up. I think a lot of us are itchy to do requests right now anyways.
