Well, I don't have photoshop yet (poo), but I am still sketching in my only remaining sketchbook at the moment. Most of my stuff is in limbo right now as I'm preparing to move in with Drig, at which point I may not have regular internet access.

I've drawn a few Star Wars pieces: a lady Hutt and a rogues gallery piece.
The drawing on top is just some cartoony aliens for a story I've been writing recently.
The two drawings in the middle are concepts for aliens in a book Drig and I have been working on for the last five years.

The Hutt I intend to finish someday and hopefully post, and possibly also the rogues image. Tell me what you think.

Haha!!! You slipped a self portrait! What a cool idea! I think I might try that! Is the tentacled one a protoss?

No, the tentacular one is an alien I made up, kind of based on Quarren. The name is an homage to Queequeg.

I LOVE the second image. That huge hulk of a monster is great! Detail that thing out!

Top picture: Both the Duros and Droid have potential if finished. The four eye'd guy has an amusing stance and expression.

2nd from top: not sure what creature species that is, could look menacing with more detailing and darker skin complexion. I'm guessing either a rough thick hide, or very slick and glossy would work. Perhaps a two-tone of lighter and darker - for example an Indian red and a dark beige? Do the horns an off-white like a bone white or (flat & slightly greyish) or ivory (glossy and slightly milky sheen). Add some moodier lighting and I think you'd have it made. But hey, these are just some ideas that could look good, and it depends on the type of creature depiction your going after be it cartoony or horror or the passive herbivore.

Quaren - is shaping up decently. Its definitely a good start.

Female Hutt - havn't seen many of those around, I think SWAG needs more of the rarer variety of choices. Nice touch with the blaster pistols and utility belt, again its a refreshing rarity in choice that we don't see too often, making that bold step out of the ordinary.

Smuggler / self portrait: finish this one up! A Blastec DLL pistol, at least its not Han Solo's DLL-44. (IMHO, its cliche to see a smuggler portrait, only to be brandishing the ol' DL-44).

Just for reference, according to some EU sources Hutts changes sexes back and forth... being neither male nor female all the time, and specifically taking a female for only for the sake of reproduction... just throwing stuff out there. :-)

I figured this Hutt chose to be female for the duration of her life, which I imagine is apt to happen. After all, does anyone remember Gardulla? "SHE lost us betting on the podraces..."

Well, on the topic of Hutts being genderless or switching sexes when desired... While its debatable if Hutts take on a specific gender or keep genderless for the better parts of their lives, it could very well be that it really boils down to the individual Hutt - whether "it" is more Masculine or Feminine in personality. (does the individual Hutt have more of one gene as the dominant than the other - Testosterone for masculinity or Estrogen for femininity ?). Thats probably how the rest of the galaxy characterizes which gender to associate the Hutt as.

Anywhoo, thats my best guess. (Hmm, methinks this would make for a really good discussion & debate either in the forums here or over at the holonets, rather than in the comments section. But I guess that's Kris' call. Kris?)

To quote the magical book of new Essential Guide to Alien Species,
- "Though hermaphroditic, the average Hutt possess a notably healthy sexual appetite, even for members of other species. In fact, some hutts have been known to assume male or female gender roles and pursue bi-gender relationships, a behavior tha sociologists attribute to societal contamination from contact with bi-gendered species. Medical Scientists disagree, deeming the alternate lifestyle a product of nature that certain Hutts simplt cannot deny, given their ability to select their own genders. Whatever the reason might be, many "normal" Hutts consider this behavior a perversion and scorn those who choose gender roles, sometimes to the point of enacting violence and murder upon them."

Hope that clears things up!
