This is the first of 3 pieces I've done for RedDragon Ripper, for his Xeno-Wook request.

For this scene, as per RedDragon Ripper's original request, he wanted an Alien aka 'Xenomorph' covered in Wookie Fur; thus an Star Wars / Aliens crossover for his RPG game. I took on the request because it intriqued me, a new spin on the old but favorite starwars crossover xenomorph scenario. I had detailed all the steps of the process in my SWAG blog linked above. It was a challenge, but really fun to tackle and complete. And it also spurned 2 additional images that I felt compelled to make.

In short, I did the fur first, then added 2 sets around the Alien, then just kept adding and adjusting as I saw fit. Including the final lighting version, the R5 astromech droid, the camera angle, and lastly the alien egg, and the eerily fog/mist on the ground that made its very own illuminative lighting properties to the scene that truly put the finishing touches and mood setting for the atmosphere...

Materials & Setup:
Intel Core2Quad Q6600, 2gb ram, Carrara 6.0
Original Resolution: 2048x1536. ~45 minutes render time
Models: Datapad - unknown, DLL-44 by Dodger, Stylus by Ellpro, Beret by HT3D, Level 19 by Stonemason, GFSC by Stonemason, Alien Drone by Antares (Franz Muenz) & converted by Virus, flask - unknown, R5 Astromech by JCHoagland & Mr.Sparky

Notes: No postwork save signature added to final render. Even the ground fog/mist and the glass control buttons are part of the original render process. Also used some custom shaders in lieu of the original textures: the Alien's fur, the coloring pattern for the Alien's fur, the fog/mist, control panel buttons, and metal parts of the R5 Astromech droid.

Way cool! I think cropping the picture to leave out the Twi'lek. It draws my eye more to the xenomorph.

Thx Asok! Yeah, thats one thing I had to at least give it a try during the making of this scene. I'm glad too that I went back to the original plan.

Btw, I re-used this same scene project for the Xeno-Wook report, just added another camera angle for the close-up =)

I wasn't sure about the idea of a furry Alien at first, but you pulled it off and this looks pretty cool. I think some additional StarWarsy-details would have helped sell this piece even more, like Aurebesh letters and markings on the walls. :)

Thanks and most appreciated feedback JawaStu!

I'll keep the aurebesh in mind for my next piece. Yeah, I'd only need to edit the model textures and replace any wording with Aurebesh. Something tells me I'll be doing quite a bit of that from this point on. I'll have to do that for any & every environment set I have that'll get used.

Hmmm, it might not actually be too much work to fix that, just would take the render time to do this 1 piece. Thats the nice thing working with 3d models. edit or swap the textures around and re-render. Then re-upload and ask for the image swap.
