Okay, I went through the whole community gallery, and, I didn't see any of the real characters from the films, are we allowed to draw them or only fan characters? And, is this place active still or in '07 did everyone leave or something? Not to sound rude, I'm just confused.
Eclipse, is it okay to use the cannon characters?
Err, I'm sorry about that last bit, I only looked at some of the threads, nevermind that last bit, I see everything here is still active, just not all of the threads.
Well.. the thing is... many of the threads are old :) ... Place is still active, not as active as it once was, but active.
As far as canon characters, I'm pretty sure it's open to do them, but not positive.. Maybe Eclipse can answer that for you.

A few canon characters I know for sure have been drawn for the site (Drig's Darth Plagueis springs to mind), but they are rare. Since the purpose of the site is to supply useful art for RPG (that can't be found elsewhere), there aren't many opportunities to draw characters from books and films.

If it's all for RPGs, then, where's the RPGs? And, if that's the case, a lot of people, inculding me, role play with cannon characters as well as FCs.
Ah I see where this confusion is coming from. I guessed as much you were talking about Computer RPGs.

In which case most of us play our own generated characters and create our own situations and mini-continuity in the Star Wars universe, and play canon characters only once in a while as one-shots or in alternative timeline (Infinities) campaigns. Hope that helps.
Essentially we don't want any character from the movies, as we don't want issues with LFL. As far as EU characters, it's generally discouraged, but I'm not going to deny a really great piece of art just because the character is "canonical". With that said, there are PLENTY of pictures of canon characters out there already, so we again discourage it.
With that said, one of my long time obsessions has been the Chiss clawcraft, which is "canonical", but EU. Same is true of my V'sett images. Characters are much more discouraged that starships and vehicles, but they would fall into the same categories. But we won't be accepting images of Han Solo or Luke Skywalker any time in the near future. (i.e. ever)
