Member since: 2007For this blog I wanted to talk about my latest project, a Gungan Galleon..
I have to admit my inspiration came from a previous blog by JawaStu who mentioned that some kind of submersible Gungan galleon would be interesting. I just loved the idea and decided to try and create one for my next RPG session.
My first model was based on a 'Leafy Sea Dragon' :- Perhaps not as sleek and deadly looking as a squid or shark but its 'leafy' appendages would give the feel of a galleon's sails and I decided that its upright position in the water would be ideal for creating multiple levels / decks. I took inspiration from the Gungan city in the construction of multiple decks and think it worked out quite well. What I ended up with was unusual to say the least but filled most of the criteria I wanted to meet.
I was interested to get JawaStu’s opinion on the thing and thankfully he was really positive and even came up with an illustrated mock-up to point out some excellent suggestions to improve the model. :- Like turn it around so the raised section is at the rear, a more intimidating head and a rib cage like hanger…
This is what I have come up with… It still needs some detail in the interior domes but I think it looks much better now.
Any suggestions welcome..

I think this is awesome! I think it was a great idea to turn that around. Um, are there any visible guns? Defenses against undersea life?

The guns (large crossbow like weapons that fire 'Energy-ball'
tipped spears) are located in the largest central sphere and the rear sphere. Probably need some more :)
The angle is'nt great in this picture but you can just make out the 'oval' membrane like openings in the spheres where they are fired from.
Underwater boomers! This is a really cool idea. It looks great, too! I like the "face" with what looks like eye sockets and an open mouth at the front, and I can just picture some scurvy captain standing at a helmsman's wheel right up at the top. Arrr!
Hey Rich! Great to see this up here! Why not post on here the close up of those mounted crossbows you showed me, I loved the design of those... And yes, the ship needs more of them... and lights! :)

Thanks for all of your encouraging comments. Still have some work to do on it but its getting there. Need more ‘guns’ :)
I have included a picture of the weapons so you can get an idea of what they look like.
YEs, this is definately looking promising, and yes, it definately needs more guns, preffereably along the sides.
