A bulk of the lower/back half of his body was destroyed in a terrible accident, as well as minor damage to other parts. Right now, all I have is basically... a Hutt-ish blob on some sort of walker/exoskeleton thing.
I'll post up a few more initial ideas over the course of this week.
I'm curious though (and if Asok can reply): This wonderful atrocity is going to be your usual Hutt crimelord type, yes? Somehow I just don't see him as a warrior. In all likelihood, most the day he just sits there in all his horrific glory contemplating crimelord schtuff. No, no... wait.. he doesn't sit... he looms...

I'm liking this one better; largely because the tripod legs make him look deadlier and more imposing (not to mention physically more stable too). The question is: Does it fulfill the spirit of the request? Will Asok (ze requeztator) lament the loss of a more human-like silhouette? (I hope not).

My GM ideas around this sketch is just running havoch as a pack of wild mynocs. It looks like a colcoid design, so I can easily se them as his henchmen scutteling about in dark corridors in his palace. Similar to droidekas this could easily contain a built in shield... and maybe even a panic roll away mode, just in case things gets to hot. I can also see normal built humanoids reaching only as far as the hip of the legs, making him a truly imposing character.
Ohh... Did I say that I love the concept?
McRage: Yeah, a droideka feel on this thing would rock, methinks. I'm just not sure about the panic roll mode. Seems a bit un-Huttly, no? Maybe he just hunkers down, ups the shields around him, ejects a nuke from his dark underbelly, and everybody go bye-bye.

Ok, the roll mode was a bit over the top... I was just brainstorming.
But now, imagine that dude with shields on, and then, up from a hidden compartment in his belly region a fold-away E-web appears, swiveling up right in front of him, mounted and ready to shoot... Well... just in emergencies, ofcource, but with my gaming group that should be bound to happen sooner or later anyway... coming to think of it... I know just the hutt that could come back with this rig... Muhahaha...

And to answer the other question, he works well as a typical Hutt crimelord. I think the vision you have is dead-on. Run with it!

McRage: Fold-away E-web? Sooweet. And, referring to your own game, I think villains coming back from the dead, used judiciously, are a great idea. Galvanizes everyone when that happens. (Yes, indeedy, I was once an "evil GM" myself.)
Asok: Excellent. I'm glad you're liking it. That was the big deal about this request. It seemed very open for a good deal more input from the artist. Thank you; I appreciate the chance to run with it.
I'll fling around more ideas over the next week or so (as I'm a little busy with real life at the moment), but our general direction now is what's in the 2nd sketch above.

OMG! I didn't get to check this till the second image was up, and my first that was "Holy cow! it's a huttika!"
I LOVE the overall look, and the whip arm... that's fantastic, I can just see him smacking PC's for the fun of it. This is so freaking cool we should get a whole character developed around him and post up some stats somewhere (swrpgnetwork maybe?) I dunno. Still really cool, that makes me want to get a game going so badly.

I am seeing little Huttletts duking it out in their wee little preschool mud pit playground: "I steal your tw'lek dancer toy, Jabba, you bantha poodoo --shove!--" (Trust me. That’s an unbelievably funny scene if you used to be a preschool teacher.)

I just read the Hutt entry from Wookieepedia. Apparently, Hutts possess the capacity to regenerate entire body parts given enough time (even half their heads, see Gargonn). So, elaborating on the original backstory provided to us by the good Asok, we might imagine that after Fubango suffers the terrible "accident" that leaves his body in shreds -- nothing more than upper torso, an arm, and say, 70% of his head remaining -- he begins the road to recovery with a horrifying twist:
He mounts himself on a robotic cradle and, instead of a plain vanilla regrow of lost parts, he regenerates his body around and into the cyborg frame, slowly and very painfully grafting his own Hutt flesh (guts, muscle, bone, brain) onto the metal parts (and vice versa), until he and the cyborg frame are inseparably one and the same.
Of course, given the way these things work in Star Wars, the horrific nature of this transformation means he probably has some sort of Dark Sider medical specialist on call following him around like a shadow. (Which would be nice to include, or at least imply, in the final illustration.)
Yep, that's crazy power-hungry evil GM stuff right there. Hutt + cyborg + Dark Side... I mean, you can't be serious. Too much, you say? Well, faced with options like that, if it were my game, I'd milk it for all the story goodness it can give the play group. Here's that yummy chewy center:
There has to be some reason why Fubango would go through all that nastiness, no? Did he do it for power? Influence? The ability to scare the living bantha poodoo out of people? Nah. Too simple. Fubango has done it for one thing only. Revenge. You see, when that "accident" happened, so many decades ago, the Hutt wasn't alone. The explosion that took away half its body, also took away the life of the unborn child in its womb.

What a spectacular idea! I thought "Mojo" when I first saw the sketches. My second thought was "why didn't I ever think of that!" Great idea, excellent execution so far.
I'm loving the plots GitH. Originally I was thinking maybe just that he was damaged in some way that made him unable to regrow, but the thought of a Sith/Dark Sider twisting him into this... that's just too awesome to ignore. Maybe in the aftermath of this damage, his mind wasn't the close box that most hutts have... and the Darksider was able to insinuate his will into the hutt, compelling him to allow these things to be done? Just a thought.

Yeah. It sounded pretty cool to me. The irony is that this hutt is the victim here. Often, the most horrifying monsters are the ones we can understand and, to a degree, relate to, maybe even feel for. It'd be great to run a campaign with this guy in it. And, of course, we're all indebted to Asok for starting all this off with a great request.
So. Enough talk. Time to draw. ETA 10 days or so.

Very nice. The dseign on the bottom one is by far the one I'd go with. Really good job on that one. The hutt himself looks metallic though. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this guy.
