This is kind of a reverse WIP. The Malice piece is actually two pieces fused into one art work. I want to display them individually here, as each was an effort on its own.

Note that in the out-of-armor pic, she is without the red in her hair and the claw-finger bit of jewelry. These were asked for by the requester and added afterwards.

I've included a portrait sized cropping to show the detail I went in to with the face and eyes. It gets lost at the final resolution. Unfortunately it also shows the poor quality of the line work. I'm just about ready to start going 'line-less' for my finished pieces.

I went with a line-less cleavage for instance, and it seemed to turn out ok.

Hi Dred,

Great detail up there. I actually think it does partly show at final resolution (else it would not have looked so nice).

About going line-less: It really helps if you don't start with a stark white background. Have you ever tried working on toned paper? It might be a nice thing to experiment with.

You can ditch the ink; just go with pencils or markers ((plus a white pencil for highlights), shading the values in as you would normally do; then, after you scan your stuff in, all you have to do is lay on some flat color via layers in Photoshop. That way, a lot of the work you'd normally do with digital brushes (like blending, etc.) would have already been done (and easier too, since the mouse can be very cumbersome for things like blending, shading, and so on.) I tried something similar back in my pre-Wacom days and it turned out okay.

If I remember right, comic book artist Adi Granov does his work this way (at least last time I checked, which was years ago). You can google him up and see if he has any demos online (if you haven't already).
